Swedish influenced Death Metal, by way of Chile, is what we’re getting with the new Soulrot EP ‘From My Grave‘. It sounds like 1992 all over again on an offering meant to serve as a promotional single for an upcoming full-length release from Soulrot.
That album, tentatively entitled ‘Nameless Hideous Manifestations’ will be issued through Momento Mori Records later this year.
What we have here are three tracks – two originals and a Nirvana 2000 cover – of purely volatile, unbridled old-school death metal. Yes, it is in the vein of early Entombed, Dismember, or Desultory, and that means scathing, unrefined brutality through and through.
Chainsaw guitars shred the air like so much tortured flesh, while machine-gun drumming pounds away. Then there are the acidic, guttural vocals permeating the tracks and it all provides a recipe for blistering savagery… not for the faint of heart.
