The Avignon, France-based bashers in Mudbath have returned with a brand new offering for your experience,Brine Pool‘. The six-song recording is the follow-up to the band’s previous release, 2015’s ‘Corrado Zeller’.

It was recorded and mixed by Mathieu “Mouffi” Croux (Verdun, Sofy Major) and mastered by Collin Jordan (Bongripper, Cough, Xiu Xiu). One thing is instantly clear once you begin to delve ever-deeper into ‘Brine Pool’, the fact that Mudbath has progressed rather nicely since their last album.

Where that release was more narrowed down into crushing sonic sludge, this latest item is rather well textured. Releasing a bevy of ethereal atmospherics, guitarist/ vocalist Mika, guitarist/ vocalist Flo, drummer/ vocalist Luke, and bassist/ electronics operator Marco add a whole new level to things.

There are repeated ripples of psychedelia that permeate songs like “Burn Brighter“, “Seventh Circle”, and the amazing “Rejuvenate”. Heady and expansive, the quartet goes exploring rather far and wide on the songs.

With several of them also contributing vocals, there’s a diverse array of singing styles embedded in these tracks as well. Everything from higher range black metal-ish deliveries to more guttural dense bellows is used to uniquely navigate each cut.

For those of you that like your sludgeoned doom with ample multifaceted aspects both musically and vocally, you should dive into Mudbath‘s latest. ‘Brine Pool‘ is a rather salty effort where aural intricacies and sharp musicianship combine for one enthralling listening experience.

You now have the opportunity to do exactly that in the Bandcamp embed of it below. Once there, you will find that there is a digital download format available as an NYP (Name Your Price) item. Enjoy!
