As the U.S.A. steadily continues to create and organize its own gradually increasing number of festival gatherings, we are pleased to inform you of a new one.

Scourge Fest 2017 will be a 2-day gathering of some of southeastern U.S.’s very best, most talented acts. They will ply their audible wares at The Hideaway in Johnson City, Tennessee on Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28th. Festivities begin at 8:00 PM on both evenings with a $7.00 entry at the door each night.

The bands compiled to perform represent an incredible cross-section of varying genres and types. No one specific genre is given preference as styles range from doom, sludge, punk, alternative, hardcore, funk, rock, black metal, and more. You can find each participating band, with a brief summary of their music, listed below.

On an added note, attendees are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes! Acts scheduled to appear include:

Bones Of Mary (Johnson City, TN) – Dense, bottom-heavy Southern Doom with abundant Sludge and Post-Hardcore elements. Abrasively annihilating and able to obliterate all within listening distance.

Wampus Cat (Knoxville, TN) – Appalachian acid boogie, satanic boggy blues, and a bit of drone-y backwoods doom. When the Cat’s outta the bag and on the loose, beware of its evil black grooves.

Canopy (Atlanta, GA) – Volatile music with hardcore virulence and post-metal spite. Unbridled malignance that eats away at you with its’ pure sonic carnage.

Navajo Witch (Johnson City, TN) – Heavyweight, pulverizing sludge and rural, riff-driven doom. Powerful neanderthal of gargantuan grooves, bludgeoning blues, and speaks with gut-wrenched vocals.

IROM [In Remembrance Of Me]: (Johnson City, TN) – Alternative / Post-Rock fused with hardcore delivered with hope and positivity. Both aggressive Lion and melodic Lamb embodied in this music.

Mega X (Johnson City, TN) – Superimposing psych metal with apocalyptic punk rock and multifaceted vocals. Sonic science fiction gone awry through careening instrumentation. The future is now.

Swallow The Sky (Johnson City, TN) – Atmospheric outer sound prophets delivering doom-infused prog metal. Ambient psychedelia and unorthodox, avant-garde aural experimentation.

Shadow Of The Destroyer (Asheville, NC) – Black metal intensity and fluid symphonic elements imbued with hellishly sinister overtones. Furious face-melting, soul-searing savagery.

Nerve Endings (Bristol, TN) – Garage/punk rock aesthetics and hardcore crust volatility channeled with anti-social depravity. Urban, street-level angst that clearly hates everyone.

Earth Witch (Champaign, IL) – Stoner rock groove and with gritty progressive doom nuance. Burly firmness, fierce intensity, and audibly incendiary rock ‘n roll.

As you can see, there are ample amounts of every musical style imaginable represented in this roster of bands. In other words, there is something for everyone so come out and support your regional music scene…

And we’ll see you at Scourge Fest 2017!
