Oldschool Sunday: MY MINDS MINE

The origins of dizzying metal extremists My Minds Mine hearken back to the spring of 1995 when the band began unleashing its grindcore tunes. Taking their influences from pioneers like Napalm Death,  S.O.B., Brutal Truth, and the like, The Netherlands would never be the same after My Minds Mine went active at that time.

The band began to play local shows, while a demo and then a 7″ EP of the debut album, ‘Between Soothing Consolation And Uncontrollable Madness‘, were released in 1998. At the time it was released, My Minds Mine contained members Roscoe (vocals), Bert (bass), Ype (drums), and Shantia Fandin (guitar) and what they played was inhumanly fast, blurring extreme metal insanity that the band refers to as “666 BPM grindcore”.

In the years that followed, My Minds Mine would gig throughout the regions of Holland, Belgium, and Germany while releasing their music. Most of that output was done so as Splits with other bands, including Idiocy Of Grotesque, Unholy Grave, and Head Hits Concrete. That tradition will continue in the modern age as well but more on that in a minute.

1999 saw the release of the ‘Unseen World‘ EP and in 2001, My Minds Mine released their second full-length, ‘Scenes Of The Complete Annihilation Of This Planet’, through the Amenta label. The lineup on these releases was the same quartet that played on their earlier offerings.

By this time, My Minds Mine were playing out on an ever-larger scale, now invading France and Poland with their sonic savagery. 2001 saw them unite with Idiocy Of Grotesque and Unholy Grave for a Japanese tour.

With the arrival of 2002 came the eventual break-up of My Minds Mine which resulted in the band’s inactivity for over a decade. Most of the members continued to work together within the band Blood I Bleed but finally, in recent years we saw the reformation of My Minds Mine.

Back and up to their high-speed extremity, My Minds Mine were one half of another split release in 2017. This time with Suffering Quota, released by Wolfsbane Records and streaming here below.

Now, it is 2018 and My Minds Mine are back with an all-new split, this time with the somewhat newcomer upstarts, Sick Of Stupidity. Recently arriving from EveryDayHate, the influential powerviolence onslaught of My Minds Mine is here to wreck your world… and not just on this album  — which is streaming below — either.
