The Vancouver, British Columbia-based entity CRATERS recently released the 2-track ‘Laurentian Abyss‘ and we have come to explore it.

Deep within the recesses of this darkest of gulfs, we locate a studio offering of massive sonic grandiosity. Transmissions of lethal sludge, progressive doom, and other outer sound qualities dwell within this profound chasm of instrumental contents.

In the span of these two tracks, “Laurentian Abyss” and “Batagaika“, and their combined running time of 28 min. and 26 seconds, this infernal quartet renders an epic construct with atmospheric flourishes. Brenden Gunn (Guitars), Dave Morris (Guitars), Anne Emberline (Bass), and Aidan Adamson (Drums) act like mortal coils for downtrodden transmutation.

They take artistic thought and transform it into an aural substance possessing both bleak traits and atmospheric elements. One moment may be haunting while the next, ethereally enthralling.

Untether your own internal aural explorer and embark upon an expedition of CRATERS‘ ‘Laurentian Abyss‘ for yourself via the embedded stream we’ve included. You can also take a direct path to this subterranean locale HERE.
