From Lviv, Ukraine comes the subjects of our latest review, SEX BLENDER, and its 4/20 release, ‘Hormonizer‘.

The four-song record is the quartet’s debut offering, the quartet being Atanas Bro (Drums, Monotribe, Shaker), Rostyslav “Ronnie” Garbar (Bass), Andy Sumers (Lead Guitar), and Yurko Savchuk (Rhythm Guitar). I can also tell you this about these guys: they are blending a whole hell of a lot more than merely sex in that aforementioned blender, that is for damn sure!

Their music is instrumentally based, laden with heavy amounts of psychedelia and space rock, both of which resonate with enticing garnishes that one could attribute to krautrock. It is served in a most fluid state, chilled but with just the right amount of blues in an almost improv-like sonic decanter.

With the longest song here being a tad over 17 minutes of playing time, “Pterozister” is the perfect place for the guys to stretch their musical muscles. They do exactly that in a variety of aural exercises, but first, the song teeters within a very minimalist, stripped-down state at its start. Atmospherically heady and immensely hypnotic, you feel as if you’re being pulled into the cosmic infinite right from the get-go.

On the other hand, “Das Morotik” is the album’s shortest song, landing just a bit shy of six minutes… but what an almost six minutes it is! Uptempo and chock full of energized grooves propelling it, the track is a fine example of the more jammy side of SEX BLENDER‘s nature.

So you can trust me when I say that you will more than likely dig that far-out, groovy SEX BLENDER nature, brothers and sisters! Get hip to ‘Hormonizer‘ right now, either via our streaming embed or flow like puree over to Bandcamp HERE.

SEX BLENDER will perform at the upcoming Electric Meadow Festival 2018 to be held in Western Ukraine from July 6 – 8. The bill includes Dope Smoker, Black Tundra, Nonsun, Wyatt E., Blues For The Redsun, firejam, Kragrowargkomn, Брудні + more TBA [INFO]
