Our series spotlighting several of the bands performing at this year’s MARYLAND DOOM FEST 2018 continues with a look at one that I’m quite excited about (Leanne is, too).

Philadelphia’s THE AGE OF TRUTH seemingly arrived out of the ether of late 2017 to dominate the year with their début album, “Threshold“. I say ‘ether’ a bit halfheartedly because, truth is, hype and anticipation for that introductory album raged throughout last year. It all then culminated with the November release of “Threshold“, which then went on to reign supreme with critics, and at sites like Doom Charts and MoreFuzz, for months afterward.

To be honest, it took me a little time to get around to delving into ‘Threshold‘ (my bad, I’m overrun with music – not in a bad way or anything), but once I did… DAAMMMMNNNN!

The music on the album, the music of THE AGE OF TRUTH as is, is something that is impossible not to like if you’re a true fan of heavy underground rock. The band, which is Kevin McNamara (Vocals), Mike DiDonato (Guitar), Scott Frassetto (Drums), and William Miller (Bass), wield a fierce blend of stoner/grunge rock, heavy blues, fuzz, and psychedelia.

From the way they deliver it on their début, I can only suspect that the live presentation of it is a mind-blowing experience, and one I cannot wait to experience at The MARYLAND DOOM Festival this month!

In THE AGE OF TRUTH-related news, that very same début will see an exclusive vinyl release from Kozmik Artifactz this June 29th. The ‘Threshold‘ LP has been pressed on high-performance vinyl at Pallas/Germany; with a limited and colored vinyl, 300gsm gatefold cover, and special vinyl mastering. Plus, a reissued CD format will also be available.
