WÖLFBLOOD ‘Nightriders’ EP Review & Stream

Every so often, any fan of non-mainstream music needs something to really fire them up, something that exudes unbridled, metallic ferocity.

Copenhagen’s WÖLFBLOOD has unquestionably delivered that on their recently released début EP, the five-song ‘Nightriders‘ from Reaper Metal Productions. On it, the quartet unleashes a damnable onslaught of metal that is best described as Motörhead-meets-Venom and both bands are binging on pure cocaine. Yeah.

After a brief cinematic audio-sample to start their sonic engines, the guys get going W.F.O. with the raging “Fury Road“. With plenty of manic aggression channeled via riffs, hooks, and grooves for miles, the song ignites a fuse that won’t stop burning for the duration of this record.

In fact, WÖLFBLOOD continues to burn things down as they channel their inner Lemmy on the scorching “Rot N’ Roll” and “Ride With Satan“. My favorite cut of these fiery speaker-melting discharges perhaps is “Serpent Queen” though, which has some phenomenal guitar shredding.

Things eventually begin winding down with an EP ending cover of Tank’s “Turn Your Head Around“. For those that might be unaware, Tank was a band that arose from the 80s era U.K. and was an integral act within the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) movement. WÖLFBLOOD give ’em a proper homage with their blistering take on this track from 1982.

So, if you are seeking some explosive metal/rock ‘n roll that is sure to get your blood pumping and headbanging, look no further than the ‘Nightriders‘ EP from WÖLFBLOOD. It’s streaming in our review, of course, or you can head over to Bandcamp to stream it, where it is currently available as an NYP (Name Your Price) item.
