Pennsylvania’s heavy rock and power funk foursome CROBOT announce they will take to the U.S. roads and highways on a touring trek set for December.

The “Year Of The Dawg Tour” will launch on December 3rd at The Crafthouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From there, they will spend the next three weeks tearing it up. Direct support to be provided by ’68, while CROBOT will be supporting their own recent album offering for Mascot Records, “Motherbrain“.

Motherbrain“, the fourth studio full-length from CROBOT, was recorded in Atlanta, Georgia with Corey Lowery (Seether, ex-Stuck Mojo, Stereomud) who also produced, mixed, and engineered the album. By all accounts, the latest long-player from CROBOT delivers a shift toward edgier, heavier songs where the fantasy-based themes of previous records is noticeably absent.

This is something addressed by frontman Brandon Yeagley in a recent press release, commenting:

[The songs are] less about wizards and dragons and more about everyday turmoil and the struggles of life. I think it’s a much darker record, musically, lyrically, and thematically. When people hear this, I hope they say, ‘Yeah, that’s Crobot.’ We want to maintain our identity from record to record. We always want to be genuine. It’s going to evolve, but it will always be Crobot.

That evolution is evident throughout the album’s 11-tracks, though the band’s signature enriched funk-rock styling is of course present. Yet, in the terms of overall music, there is an abundance of dynamic grooves embedded within a much darker onslaught of grunge-inspired heaviness. The vocals also reveal a more serious focus, they are resilient and maximized to channel emotion in every syllable.
