Darkly emotional, heartfelt and hugely atmospheric stoner doom. I think that sums up the somewhat short-lived Cleveland, Ohio-based band Abdullah rather well.    Continue reading “Oldschool Sunday: ABDULLAH”

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

This was when guitarist Erik Barath and bassist Dennis Gergely, both fed up and sickened with the state of music at that time, decided to start a band that harnessed the aggressive, violent, and vicious energy they felt was lacking in most music. Oldschool Sunday: RELEASE

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

I absolutely dislike writing pieces, where either no, or next to no, information exists about a band, especially Oldschool Sunday articles.  Call it perfectionism, a desire to be thorough, whatever… Hell, call it OCD if you want, it doesn’t matter.   Continue reading “Oldschool Sunday: RELEASE”

We aren’t going all that far back in Heavy Metal history for today’s spotlight band, Salt Lake City, Utah’s Gallowbraid.  In fact, truth is, Gallowbraid was (or is?) not an actual band really, not in the multiple member sense of the word, as it is a one-man project.   Continue reading “Oldschool Sunday: GALLOWBRAID”
