Canadian hard rock band Freewaysembody every jot and tittle of the tags that get tossed around every day like “retro”, “vintage” or “classic”. While most times such descriptions are used, it’s a half-hearted, lukewarm attempt to identify something using very little imagination. But in this case, they’re all applicable and there is no mistaking the power of Freeways‘ recent EP release. Continue reading “FREEWAYS ‘Cold Front’ EP Review & Stream”→
The global-wide metal underground is an intriguing place to say the least. It is a place that exists with duality or purpose in many cases, at any given time. For some, it can be both a treasure trove of undiscovered riches yet for others, it is a musty graveyard where many bands go to die. The point I’m trying to make is this: that you must tread carefully within its confines and exercise a discerning sensibility when you do such. My favorite Pretoria, South Africa-based band are back with a new EP! The psychotic garage rock and psyche blues band Ruff Majik return with the 3-song “A Finch In A Cherry Tree“. There was an era in rock music, say between 1968 and 1975 or so, when some of the best stuff ever was created. Occasionally someone does, they succeed in channeling it all into their own modern output. Today that someone is Vortical Minds. Brazil’s Cosmonaut Fuzz is a one man project from multi-instrumentalist Adriano Alves (guitarist/vox for Netuno Doom). To be his first outing recorded in his home studio with him playing and producing, Alves hits a home run his first time out.
