Doom music is universal it seems. It can come or originate from anywhere upon the globe, and do so at any point in time. Take Northern Ireland for example, back in 2015 as that’s where a five-fold set of riff worshipers united within one entity, Elder Druid. In doing so, Gregg McDowell (vocals), Jake Wallace (lead guitar), Mikey Scott (rhythm guitar), Dale Hughes (bass guitar) and Brien Gillen (drums), set events in motion that have thus far led us all to this point in time. ORISSA ‘Resurrection’ Review; Video Premiere

New York’s Orissa are most definitely on the move with their imminent full-length album release, “Resurrection“. It will drop on November 3rd and based on what I’ve culled from my own listens to it, it is going to impress innumerable people. Plus, it was mixed by Sahaj Ticotin, (RA; Meytal Cohen; Adekain; September Mourning) and mastered by Paul Logus, (Stone Sour; Steel Panther; Shadows Fall) so you know the sound quality is superb. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Release 25th Anniversary Edition Of ‘Core’ With Bonus Material

When I think back to 1992 and the explosion of grunge and other killer music from that period, one of the highlight releases is the Stone Temple Pilot’s debut, “Core“. STP seemed to storm on to the scene with the record which, once released, would peak at No. 3 on the Billboard charts. It infected listeners with singles like “Sex Type Thing” and “Wicked Garden,” and was eventually certified eight times platinum by the RIAA. The Garden State locale that brought us Method Of Destruction (M.O.D.), TT Quick, Overkill and the legendary metal label Megaforce Records is the perfect place for these events too.
