Recently, the band dropped the second single from the album, “How To Shake Hands“, along with an official video for the song. The history behind the track is quite interesting, one whose origins date back to Ry Cooder and John Lee Hooker via the latter’s song “John Lee Hooker For President”. In that song, Ry Cooder impersonates JLH giving a stump speech on what will happen when he becomes President.
CLUTCH originally entertained the idea of covering the Ry Cooder song, but that plan was soon abandoned as vocalist Neil Fallon said he couldn’t do the song justice. Instead, Neil put his own lyrics in the style of Ry Cooder/John Lee Hooker to a new song of the band’s own, which ended up becoming the fast-paced rocker “How To Shake Hands”.
A very limited 7” Picture Disc in a transparent PVC pocket is available for the new single. It contains “How To Shake Hands” on its blue side and the first single released earlier from the new album, “Gimme The Keys” on its reverse, green side.
“Book Of Bad Decisions” is currently available to pre-order HERE. It was recorded at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, TN, by producer Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather) and consists of 15 new tracks. It features artwork created by Dan Winters and will be issued in these formats:
CD: with a 24-page book, 2xLP: Standard Black, Limited Colored 2xLP, and 2xLP Picture Disc; all will have the same 15 tracks. In addition, Weathermaker Music will also be releasing two very limited 7” Picture Discs as described above.
In related news, CLUTCH recently announced an upcoming tour with Sevendust and Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown in support of the new recording. Find that trek’s itinerary HERE.
