Erupting out of Oakland, California in 2014, War Cloud has been on a steady path of shredding Northern Californian eardrums. Taking time since to gather all their heavy equipment, they now announce a run of dates to hard pave that path.
Founded by Alex Wein (vocals, guitars), who hails from Baltimore MD, he wasted zero time in recruiting area musicians after firmly planting his amps in the Bay Area. Alex solidified this four-man crew with two Bay Area natives Joaquin Ridgell (drums) and Tony Campos (guitar) and secured the low-end with Toronto transplant Carson Binx on bass.
They have announced both a teaming up with Hi-Wattage Booking (Mothership, Cave of Swimmers, and Freedom Hawk are also on their roster), and a new run of live dates starting later this month. War Cloud will be hitting a few cities in the Pacific Northwestern US, well known for its love of all things heavy rock and riffs.
War Cloud Live Dates:
5/19 San Francisco, CA @ SF Eagle – w/ TNL Slough Feg, War Child
6/2 Eugene, OR @ Old Nick’s – w/ Oort Cloud, Ice Kream Social
6/3 Portland, OR @ Twilight Cafe – w/ Pushy, Moodrake, Disastroid
6/4 Seattle, WA @ Substation – w/ Infinite FLUX, The Grindylow
War Cloud is a young band, but far from wide-eyed innocents. A musical history drenched in molten riffs across the timeline of heavy metal, the name alone originates from a Wicked Lady song of the same title.
These gents have started cooking up a new flavor of heavy rock music for those enjoying past meals served up by the likes of Pentagram, UFO, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath. This is modern metal sophistication dipped deep in ‘70’s heavy fuzz rock. Check out their latest on the Bandcamp stream below:
