After a lengthy absence from the underground global rock scene, Ohio’s rhythm and blooze bad asses Five Horse Johnson are back! That return comes with an undeniable hunger, too. One that is more than evident on their new studio album.
The band’s latest recording, their eighth album overall, is entitled ‘Jake Leg Boogie‘ and it will drop from Small Stone Records tomorrow (Friday, June 30th).
The highly revered rock band have clearly crafted another fantastic offering that finds the guys returning to their roots in many ways. First and foremost is the return of original drummer, Tim Gahagan, who returns to the fold with a phenomenal fierceness behind the kit.
Guitarist/vocalist Brad Coffin, vocalist/harmonica player Eric Oblander, guitarist Phil Dürr, and bassist Steve Smith are in tip-top shape, as well, and the results are magnificent.
“Jake Leg Boogie” is a landmark opus, laden with southern grooves, one that was recorded live with everyone in the room. The backwoodsy, rural vibe it emanates are undeniable components of why this is such a beloved band.
The punk-ish swagger it exudes, the sweat soaked boogie it evokes, and all that comes along with those elements is all here. In fact, it is all here for you to stream and enjoy now, today… this very moment, actually – thanks to the Soundcloud embedded stream of the brand new Five Horse Johnson record, “Jake Leg Boogie“.
