Seattle-based bass and drum two-piece, Year Of The Cobra, have announced the next step in their sonic progression, the ‘Burn Your Dead‘ EP.
It will be released through Magnetic Eye Records on October 27th and finds the duo of Amy Tung and Jon Barrysmith tackling new styles and new substance with vigor.
Produced much like their 2016 STB Records debut full-length, ‘…In the Shadows Below’, by Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis, Melvins) at Type Foundry Studios in Portland, Oregon, ‘Burn Your Dead’ still offers plenty of tonal density to go with its striking Joshua M. Wilkinson cover art.
02. The Descent
03. Burn Your Dead
04. The Howl
05. And They Sang…
Consisting of five tracks, the EP finds the pair delving ever deeper into musical explorations. The latest include forays into atmospheric progressive rock, punk, and melodic rock at times. All of it really is the band’s own natural, organic evolution further into sonic realms already touched upon on previous efforts.
To celebrate the new release, Year Of The Cobra will embark on a U.S. tour alongside Ape Machine. The trek includes stops at several prestigious festivals and events including Highland Tap Room’s Metal Monday and this year’s Doomed & Stoned Festival 2017.
