DESERT STORM ‘Sentinels’ Album Review & Stream; Supporting KARMA TO BURN UK Tour

The Oxford, U.K. band Desert Storm recently released their newest studio offering,’Sentinels‘, via APF Records last month (March 16).

Their latest album was recorded at Animal Farm Studios and Flesh & Bone Studios, London by James Dodd – except for “Journey’s End” recorded by Steve ‘Geezer’ Watkins at Woodworm Studios, Oxfordshire. Mastering was done by Tim Turan of Turan Audio.

Since their self-titled album released in 2008, Desert Storm have always displayed growth, transformation and evolution in their music. Yet none of their four previous full-lengths have contained such exponential moves forward as the ones found on ‘Sentinels’.

Desert Storm is always quick to impress but their melding of progressive metallic sludge, heavy rock, psychedelia, and modern metal here is astounding. The quintet – Matt Ryan (Vocals), Chris White (Guitar), Ryan Cole (Guitar), Chris Benoist (Bass), and Elliot Cole (Drums) – heave a highly fluid mix of colossal riffery and undiluted aggression.

I’m finding the ‘Sentinels‘ album from Desert Storm almost impossible to not jam in a repeated, back-to-back fashion. Each new spin reveals yet another miraculous passage, be it a guitar lick, a lyric, or vocal line, something that just astounds. There is no cherry-picking one track here or there, this is a damn solid record from start to finish and I suggest that’s how you intake it in the Soundcloud embed streaming here.

In Desert Storm-related news, the band was just announced as the support for Karma To Burn‘s upcoming U.K. touring trek. Here is the itinerary…
