MARYLAND DOOM FEST 2018 – Must-See Spotlight [Pat]: DOOMSTRESS [Announces ‘They Came From Texas!’ Tour]

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Senior Writer/Journalist, RiffRelevant.com)

The Lone Star State’s DOOMSTRESS are one of the road doggin’-est bands active in the heavy rock underground today.

The band pretty much stays on the road, embarking upon a new tour as they come off of a previous one at any given time. DOOMSTRESS will be playing next month’s MARYLAND DOOM FEST 2018, too, and have just announced a new tour (imagine THAT!) they will undertake as they work their way east in June.

More on that in a minute… let’s talk DOOMSTRESS for a sec, shall we? The band formed in 2016, out of “Doomstress” Alexis Hollada and Brandon Johnson‘s previous band, Project: Armageddon. In fact, the pair played the inaugural MDDF when they were still active within that act.

Seeking to indulge a heavier style of music, one that also displayed the musician’s love for NWOBHM and doom in general, DOOMSTRESS was born! They also issued their first official recording in 2016, “Supernatural Kvlt Sounds“; whose recording line up contained the previously mentioned Alexis and Brandon, along with drummer Tomasz Scull.

In the couple of years since then, DOOMSTRESS has established themselves as an always good-to-go dynamo of road trekking and powerful live performances. I was present for the aforementioned Project: Armageddon appearance at MDDF in 2015, so I’m quite excited at the prospect of seeing its members’ current evolved state as DOOMSTRESS next month.

This is where the “They Came From Texas!Tour announcement comes in, as DOOMSTRESS‘ Alexis and Brandon will be joined by their fellow Texan, Buddy Hachar (Greenbeard) on drums for this imminent sojourn. The band will work and play their way eastward for The MARYLAND DOOM FEST and then hit some dates on the return home, too.

It must be mentioned that this tour will also include two direct support dates for late 60’s heavy rock / proto-metal pioneers JOSEFUS on their first ever shows outside of Texas!
