Premiere: GHASTLY SOUND’s TJ MAYNARD “Holy Serpent” Playthrough/Review On Balaguer Guitars’ ‘Hyperion’ Bass; Set to play Psycho Las Vegas

Article By: Leanne Ridgeway

TJ Maynard, bassist for Burlington, Vermont’s Ghastly Sound spent some time with Robot Dog Studio to do a video review of the Hyperion bass from Balaguer Guitars. This is a pretty nifty thing and we’re premiering it today.

TJ just joined up with Balaguer Guitars and is now part of their Artist Roster. He’s also the very first owner of their Hyperion model bass guitar. Along with his review and demonstration of the features of the bass, the video also includes his full play-through of the Ghastly Sound song “Holy Serpent“,  from their EP ‘The Bottom‘ on Magnetic Eye Records

You can grab both of their EP releases on Bandcamp right here and stream ‘The Bottom’ in full below the video.

Ghastly Sound was one of the performers at the inaugural New England Stoner & Doom Festival in April and holy smokes they were LOUD. It wasn’t a huge room, but even with earplugs, I had to back away from the amps after a couple of songs into their fantastic set. Punishing, brutal, and beautiful.

They are set to play at this year’s Psycho Las Vegas festival at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in August.  You can catch their set (and likely find me watching, too) on Saturday, August 18th at Vinyl.  Get tickets [here].
