In a stunning announcement, Japan’s ministers of stoner doom metal heaviness, CHURCH OF MISERY, will undertake a U.S. headlining tour this spring!

The scheduled three-week trek will kick off on May 25th in Detroit, MI and run through June 16th in Cambridge, MA, with a stop as a featured act at the Austin Terror Fest on June 7th. The trek is preceded by a performance at the 2019 edition of the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore on May 23rd.

This is a rare pilgrimage from the immensely revered CHURCH OF MISERY and their expected line up of players for the trek will consist of Tatsu Mikami (bass), Junichi Yamamura (drums), Yasuto Muraki (guitar) and Hiroyuki Takano (vocals).

Formed by bassist Tatsu Mikami in 1996, the Tokyo-based CHURCH OF MISERY discharge a formidable sound that melds early era Black Sabbath style doom influences with powerful, mind-melting psychedelic rock. Major players in Japan’s underground music scene, the celebrated quartet dwells obsessively on the topic of infamous serial killers in their music’s song titles, lyrical subject, as well as imagery. Oft times they use macabre newsreel sound bites culled from historically documented reports of grisly murderers and their atrocious slayings.

For the upcoming U.S. stage assaults, CHURCH OF MISERY will be supported by a rotating roster of bands that embody the finest acts the underground has to offer. In this case: THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX, Nick Oliveri’s MONDO GENERATOR, and TOKE.
