UNCLE BUCK ‘Death With Dignity’ Album Review & Stream

Article By: Brian Halsey ‡ Edited By: Leanne Ridgeway

If you think for one second a powerviolence band named UNCLE BUCK is gonna lurk around the dark corners of heavy music without me noticing, you’re sadly mistaken.

And by sadly mistaken, I mean you’re fucked (harder than the dope who just dropped some money on a rigged horserace). I found you, UNCLE BUCK. In all your glory.

Like a birthday pancake so massive it requires a snow shovel to be flipped. This band comes out ripping, averaging roughly forty-five seconds per song. Not a joke, their entire ‘Death With Dignity’ release is just over six minutes. Can you call that an album? Eh, who cares? By the time we debate it, it’s over.

Devon Lawless (bass), BJ Ramsey (guitar/vocals), and Tom Scott (drums/vocals) have graced us with an offering of non-stop, fast, bludgeoning, hardcore. All songs were written by Uncle Buck, except “Terminal Nation“,  a cover originally done by Infest. Released in April 2017, Death With Dignity was recorded by Kevin Bernsten at Developing Nations, with mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.

‘Death With Dignity’ Tracklist:

01. Four Hours
02. Rattle
03. Dead Man’s Chest
04. How To Die In Oregon
05. Morphine
06. Flatline
07. Terminal Nation

Do you want something that is going to give you the courage to beat the shit out of a drunken clown for showing up late to a birthday party? Of course, you do. Do want to support a band that carries around a hatchet in the trunk of their town car, to stop creepy dudes from smashing your virgin niece? Absofuckinglutely. Do you want to listen to music that threatens the ritualistic sacrifice of juvenile delinquents?

Do you want to eat a 96oz. steak just to prove how much of a goddamn man you are (yes, I realize I’m now in The Great Outdoors realm of reference and I don’t care)? Do you want to shoot a bald-headed bear, of legendary size, in the ass with a shotgun? Do you want to criminally abduct a minor and tee up golf balls at his face? Again, the answer to all of these is yes.

UNCLE BUCK is a heavy band from Baltimore, Maryland. I can’t really tell you how I stumbled upon them. Probably because my dad is an asshole and he forced me to repeatedly watch John Candy films at an inappropriately young age. Either way, I think this band is awesome.

They have their ‘Death With Dignity‘ release listed as a NYP (name your price) offering on Bandcamp, but you should throw them a couple of dollars before you download their tunes.

Take this quarter, go downtown and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face:
