Finally. I have been determined to interview reactivated Maryland Doom legends EARTHRIDE for months now. There were plans laid and attempts made at this year’s Maryland Doom Fest III and Descendants Of Crom Festivals. Neither panned out due to whatever reasons but yet, the hope remained and determination never waned. Continue reading “The EARTHRIDE Interview; Asheville, N.C. [Video]”→
Columbia, South Carolina’s Grüzer are on an ascending climb through the ranks of heavy music currently. The band’s 2016 release, the Let It Burn EP, was a successful slab of riff-driven sonic monstrosities that introduced a whole new group of fans to the band. They joined the ranks of fans that had been supporting the band since their 2014 debut, Path Of Buzzards, and before that. Doom music is universal it seems. It can come or originate from anywhere upon the globe, and do so at any point in time. Take Northern Ireland for example, back in 2015 as that’s where a five-fold set of riff worshipers united within one entity, Elder Druid. In doing so, Gregg McDowell (vocals), Jake Wallace (lead guitar), Mikey Scott (rhythm guitar), Dale Hughes (bass guitar) and Brien Gillen (drums), set events in motion that have thus far led us all to this point in time. West Virginia’s Byzantine have always been one of the best, truly creative and progressive thrash metal bands in all music history. Call that opinion if you want, but I will insist it is fact. I feel the band’s own discography and history more than validates my statement, too.
