Oldschool Sunday: BLOOD DUSTER [Includes Break Up Announcement]

BLOOD DUSTER (Then)

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker”, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

The birth of Australia’s Blood Duster occurred in 1991 with Jason Fuller (aka Jason PC on bass), Anthony Barry (vocals and guitar) and Andrew Brown (drums). The band’s name was taken from a John Zorn song, “Blood Duster“, off his 1989 album release, Naked City. That 3-piece version of the band was short-lived as Anthony Barry was almost immediately replaced by Troy Darlington and Callum Wilson. By their own admission, they formed with the sole purpose of being more intense than other bands that were around at that time. An Interview ELDER DRUID’s Brien Gillen

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

Doom music is universal it seems. It can come or originate from anywhere upon the globe, and do so at any point in time. Take Northern Ireland for example, back in 2015 as that’s where a five-fold set of riff worshipers united within one entity, Elder Druid. In doing so, Gregg McDowell (vocals), Jake Wallace (lead guitar), Mikey Scott (rhythm guitar), Dale Hughes (bass guitar) and Brien Gillen (drums), set events in motion that have thus far led us all to this point in time. (By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

When I think back to 1992 and the explosion of grunge and other killer music from that period, one of the highlight releases is the Stone Temple Pilot’s debut, “Core“. STP seemed to storm on to the scene with the record which, once released, would peak at No. 3 on the Billboard charts. It infected listeners with singles like “Sex Type Thing” and “Wicked Garden,” and was eventually certified eight times platinum by the RIAA. Now, 25 years later, the band will be celebrating this achievement with an upcoming deluxe edition of the album laden with tons of bonus material, some of which has never been released.  Continue reading “STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Release 25th Anniversary Edition Of ‘Core’ With Bonus Material”

WITH THE DEAD ‘Love From With The Dead’ Review & Stream

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

What is there to be said about vocalist Lee Dorrian‘s post-Cathedral band With The Dead that hasn’t been said so many other places (sites)? Dorrian’s main project now, WTD holds quite a respectable bunch of lads in its band membership, that is for sure. Returning with Lee on the new studio album, “Love From With The Dead” once again, is guitarist Tim Bagshaw (ex-Electric Wizard/Serpentine Path). There’s also new blood in the personages of former Bolt Thrower drummer Alex Thomas and Lee’s old Cathedral band mate, bassist Leo Smee.
