MEZZOA ‘Astral Travel’ Review; ‘Song Of The Sun’ Official Video

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

San Diego-based quartet Mezzoa released one of the most powerful, fluid stoner rock albums this year with the amazing “Astral Travel“. There, I said it and in doing so, got right to the point concerning this phenomenal 9-song outing. It is the product of much hard work, years of such in fact, from the foursome within Mezzoa: vocalist / rhythm guitarist Nacho Maldonado, lead guitarist / bkg. vocals  John Cruz, drummer Roy Belarmino and bassist Q. Pena.

EMPTY THREAT ‘Shutdown Nowhere’ EP Review & Stream

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

The threat is real! From Mississauga, Ontario comes the debut offering from Empty Threat, the “Shutdown Nowhere” EP. The six song effort dropped nearly two weeks ago and I’m pretty happy about it landing on my radar. The reason I’m saying that is because of what is channeled through these six selections. It’s a potent blending of punk rock, grunge, alternative and post-rock that walks the line between the past and the present worlds of music. MOON MOTHER ‘Riffcraft’ EP Review, Stream & NYP Release

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

Through mighty sounds of our crying Earth we’re channeling frustration of a modern world.”

This appears to be the mantra and / or mission statement of Sweden’s Moon Mother and their newly released “Riffcraft“. It is a totally respectable undertaking too for the quartet of singer Sara Trollpacka, drummer Jesper Wallin, guitarist Pat Ahlström and bassist Thomas V Jäger (of Monolord who also produced this). On their official 4-song debut here, the foursome blend an appealing elixir of bluesy Stoner Doom with abundant classic rock influences. RESCUE RANGERS ‘Join Hate’ Review & Stream

(By Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Lead Journalist/Writer, RiffRelevant.com)

French band Rescue Rangers released their third studio effort, “Join Hate“, via F200 Records back on September 1st. To be honest, I’d never heard any music from the band other than the track “Creeper, The One Who Creeps” from their 2012 release, Manitoba. I’ll address that introduction in the next paragraph. But, it is always better late than never to discover killer music though and based on “Join Hate“, I’m glad I came on board and need to seek out their earlier material at some point.
